Two training workshops are offered this Fall. One is a virtual training on a Wednesday October 16th from 4:30 pm to 6:00 pm. The second is a hands-on training on Saturday October 26th from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm.
Session 1 – Zoom – Wednesday, October 16, 4:30 pm-6:00 pm
Topics will include an overview of the Salmon in the Schools program, salmon life cycle and habitat requirements, features of Seattle watersheds, and lesson planning. Access to the Zoom session is HERE.
Session 2 – in person – Saturday, October 26, 10:00 am-2:30 pm (30-minute lunch break at about noon) at Bailey-Gatzert Elementary School (1301 E. Yesler Way,). This hands-on session will focus on equipment, tank set-up, maintenance, and water testing, plus explore curriculum connections.
These trainings are required for all teachers new to the Salmon in Schools program, and for any volunteers that will be recruited to assist in the school to help with tank maintenance.
These training can also be a refresher for any veteran teacher that would like to attend.
